The current government is launching an unprecedented attack on our environment with its proposals to scrap EU legislation protecting wildlife and the environment and lift "burdensome" environmental and planning rules in the proposed low-tax investment zones. The Living Planet Report published today states that nearly 70% of animal populations have been destroyed since 1970. Hardly the time to be reducing protections. The National Trust, RSPB and WWF, among other green groups, are encouraging us all to help develop a set of public demands to protect nature's future.
